Recently, as I was worshipping, the Lord started speaking to me about the virtue of patience.
The Virtue of Patience
All of us will inevitably go through tests, trials, sufferings and temptations of various kinds, but how we handle it will determine
the outcome! Either we can try to overcome by self-power, while complaining and murmuring, becoming fretful and stressed
out, or we can choose God’s way, which seems totally impossible and doesn’t make sense to the natural mind. But, being God’
s way, it surely will bring you the crown of life! Let’s see how:
Attitude plays a major role
James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your
faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.“
The virtue of patience is the greatest proof of character and our faith will be tried and tested until patience has done her perfect
will in us, so that impatience or striving would not move us anymore. Trials of our faith and distresses of any kind will come our
way as testings of our faith, but James tells us to count it all joy! We see the reason in verse 12, which explains that there is a
blessing hidden in the test if we will but endure...!
James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which
the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
Until that test of endurance is passed, we cannot move forward and will be in God’s “waiting” room, for He is watching our
hearts, looking until He finds loving trust in Him. It is our hearts that need to be purified until we walk in translucent light in His
Presence, filled to overflowing with love and adoration, trusting Him completely.
The crown of Life
What is this crown of life? It implies that first there has to be a death of self by which we can endure the times of testing and get
the victory through His divine life.
Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Now we can understand why He calls our trials temporary light afflictions, because it we would allow His life to work in us, and we
can see the end result of His glory by faith, we will rejoice exceedingly in the midst of the trials: (note that the Greek literally
means: “the light of affliction”) and is contrasted beautifully with the “weight of the glory.”) See the weight of glory as the
Temporary afflictions for GLORY-weight
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and
eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the
things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
Jesus is our perfect example, keeping His eyes on the joyous end result, enduring the cross:
Hebrew 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking
unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
In the first book of Peter we see the same parallel: (compare “but for a moment” and “for a season”). Take courage, for it is
only a temporary state wherein our faith will be purified from dross until it becomes “naked” faith in the Word of God and the
power of God.
1 Peter 1:6-8 “...ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold
temptations:That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with
fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye
love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory…”
At the root of impatience lies fear, signalled by a lot of insecurities, fear of losing what we think belongs to us, fear of failure,
fear that the enemy will steal from us and causes us to lose our opportunities, etc. Fear causes us to strive in order to “make”
things happen for us and then, not being able to wait on Him, we try and push open the doors of opportunities. Fear robs us of
life, joy and peace! We cannot be moved by fear, but by faith, which works by love.
When we recognize the fruit of the spirit of fear, we can submit ourselves to God and surrender to His rule and reign in our lives
and His perfect timing of events and rest in His love. Perfect love drives out all fear and brings us security by His grace. Resist
the spirit of fear and he will flee from you (James 4: 7).
Impatience is proof that the will is frustrated. We are waiting impatiently on Him to move, yet He is waiting on us to let go of our
own horses, and our own strength, so that He can be gracious over us. (Isaiah 30:15-21)
We have to allow God to mould us in the secret place by the test of patience, doing her perfect work in us to strip us of our
pride, willfulness, impetuousness and restlessness, becoming yielded and pliable under His mighty hand in the timelessness of
His Presence, where we will “want” nothing and be in lack of anything!
Glory to God almighty in His infinite Wisdom!!!
Coming into His Rest
Isaiah 30:15 “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness
and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.”
It is here, in His Presence, that He will root us in His divine love, strengthening us in the inner man with the power of His might
and bring us to the knowledge of the breadth and length and depth and height of His love (Eph. 3: 17-19). When we come to
know the love of Christ in our spirit man, it surpasses human knowledge and wisdom and brings us into the fulness of who He is,
Love! Questions and arguments and reasonings and strivings cease altogether as the self dissolves into Him in oneness, fully
satisfied with Him alone.
In this place is liberty and freedom and a joy exceedingly and full of glory and we just want to sit at His feet, being taught by Him,
waiting on Him in order to fulfill His needs, not ours. His desire is worshipers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth, wanting
nothing for themselves, but the establishment of His Kingdom becomes truly their greatest pursuit.
Union with Him
The Lord is looking for a bride whose heart is completely in union with Him. As long as we have our ideas, reveling in the great
anointing that we have been endowed with, wanting it to be put to effect now, God will have us wait till we become humble and
completely dead to self, the world and sin. Anointing without character will not go very far and oftentimes God’s seeming delay
is to save us from ourselves. When we have no fight left in ourselves, we can melt in union with Him and learn the art of
abiding in Him, in His Word and in His love. What He has promised, He will fulfill, but remember that the timing is His. In the
“kairos” time, He will open the doors of opportunity and His resurrection power will rise up in us to take the Kingdom by force,
surprisingly without any effort for “His yoke is easy and His burden is light..”
He is preparing us, while we grow in grace and the knowledge of the Lord, to be ready for His suddenlies to take the quantum
leap in the “kairos” time.
Some more keys
Romans 5:1-5 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom
also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so,
but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and
experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy
Ghost which is given unto us.”
First, let us know that it is by faith that we are justified and are brought into peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
By this same faith we can now simply enter into His glorious grace, which will give us the endurance to stand the tests and the
trials, while we rejoice in hope that God’s glory will be increased in us and through us as we are changed by the tests of the fire.
Now we can rejoice (glory) in the midst of the tribulations, knowing that it works that patience into us and with it, remember, an
exceeding eternal weight of glory! And with that the experience to help others through the same tests and trials, while our hope
is in His promised crown of glory!
He is working it together for good
So now we hear James again, saying, “count it all joy, my brethern…….” And we realize that in God’s unfathomable wisdom,
He is working it all together for good to those who love Him: opportunity to die.
Rom 8:28-29 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Three keys to breakthrough in the waiting process
Isa 64:4-5 “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye
seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and
worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways…”
God has prepared unimaginable things for us. The secret keys to step into it, are in the attitudes of our hearts and in
obedience to His precepts. Here He gives it to us:
- Rejoice in His Wisdom and power and might, praising Him for what He has prepared for you through His victory on the
- Walk in subjective and objective righteousness through the life of Christ in you
- Remember His mighty deeds and wonders in the past and praise Him for His ways which are higher than our ways.
Those who have been submitted to the transformation process and saturated in His glorious Presence in the secret place, are
now going to arise as a forceful army of glory carriers, dispensing His glory everywhere they go, establishing His Kingdom in
salvation, healing and deliverance, leaving a trail of signs and wonders behind them.
Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”

The Trial of Our Faith
His life, giving us the victory in every test while we rejoice in Him and the power of His might, will
become our reward and our crowning glory. And in the process He will receive all the glory due His Name
and we will enjoy the divine life in His Kingdom.
|THERE IS A GOLDEN THREAD THAT RUNS THROUGH ALL THE TRIALS, NAMELY THE SECRET OF REJOICING!!!
