Message: Negative Snapshots
Recently the Lord started talking to me about sanctifying my imagination – having a holy mind - so that He can have a holy
habitation and I can enjoy His Presence continuously.
II Cor. 7:1 "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and
spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
When we think about any person, a certain “image” comes up – depending on our observation or experience with him/her,
coloring our thoughts, feelings, attitude and behavior towards that person. We often keep snapshots of negative moments and
judge others (or ourselves) by it! This will come out of our mouths, defiling us!
1 Pet. 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written,
Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
We have to know each other (and ourselves) by the Spirit – not by the flesh. The imagination stores bad memories and attach
it to a person or situation. Judgment enters into our hearts and then we have negative reactions, as well as negative
expectations regarding that person or situation. We can even condemn ourselves for wrongs or develop anger towards God
for what happened to us.
Flesh wants to take vengeance on wrongs, but it brings no solution to the problem – only frustration and helplessness – then
anger. Only the Spirit brings mercy and grace. “Blessed be the merciful, for they will receive mercy.” If we could only see
through the eyes of the Father’s love that has made provision through the gift of His Son for the worst of sinners, including
ourselves – and also for every situation that we might face.
Sometimes we can exercise great faith in one situation, while we fall totally short in another – feeling powerless and
frustrated, while going around the same mountain. This can most often be traced back to fear through a negative “snapshot”
which came into our mind, and is carried in our subconscious. It could be by a negative word “seed” (through the ears), a
negative emotion (feeling), an “evil eye”-observation, or the repetition of a negative experience. We store these images and
live with the programming of it as if they are unalterable. BUT WITH GOD – ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! There is one
solution and His Name is Jesus. He is the One who takes care of our heavy burdens when we give it to Him and then He
says something interesting in Matt. 11:29: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye
shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”. We have to learn to become totally reliant on Him
in humility, for the pride of our self-power cannot help us. We often try so hard in our own power to solve our heart’s issues,
but dependence on Him will bring us to rest and peace.
Cleanse your lenses and remove from you the evil eye – looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith! See with the
eyes of the Spirit into the glory – not into the mud of sinfulness. Forgive, ask the Lord to wash your memory with His precious
blood and see the expected end that God has in store for your brother and sister – just as He has for you – to prosper you (and
everyone else) and give you a future and a hope! God’s grace has made provision for every negative to be turned into a
positive so that He can be glorified.
Release the past and move on! So let us sanctify our imagination and replace those negative images by faith into that which
is praiseworthy and start calling it forth, just as though it were already changed. Declare the truth of God’s Word over it and
watch the transformation – first in you, then in people and situations! Now we can live the abundant life in the light and in
freedom of His grace.
It is by grace alone that we stand and those who stand must be careful that they don’t fall (into the traps of the enemy).
Matt. 7: 1 “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure
ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest
not the beam that is in thine own eye?”
Prayer: Father, help me to understand Your heart of grace and mercy. Help me to recognize the negative snapshots that I
have taken of brother or sister, remembering fleshly behavior and living with condemnation towards others or myself. Forgive
me, Lord for pointing the finger and not seeing my own pride and self-righteousness. Forgive me for not trusting You Lord, I
REPENT! Help me to forgive quickly as I receive forgiveness from You for my sins and trespasses. Help me to replace the
negative images in my mind with the truth of Your Word and be healed. I ask for Your grace over me and my brothers and
sisters, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Blessings of peace and grace to you
