Life can be all wonderful and then suddenly something happens unexpectedly, or someone says something and you find yourself totally upset. Sometimes it is hard to find your peace again and the incident can mill around in your mind for days or even weeks.

Emotions range from anger, shock, hurt and sadness to despondency and many more.

The problem is that the more you think about the negative situation, the more you will suffer emotionally. And the more you talk about it, the more you empower the negative and the issue snowballs out of proportion, consuming your world.

Here’s what to do whenever you are emotionally stirred, upset or thrown off balance:

Find a quiet place alone and open your heart to God, asking Him to show you the root of your emotional upset. What He shows you might surprise you, but if you let Him deal with the root cause through forgiveness and repentance, it will be much easier to deal with the current issue.

Once you have forgiven the people involved (yourself included) as well as repented (if needed), you can release the situation into His hands, putting your trust in God to take care of the situation (if it is an ongoing problem). Then ask Him to heal your heart and emotions by receiving His love.

Purpose to set your mind on God’s goodness and grace, praising Him for healing you and do not rehearse the situation again. Leave it behind and move on with your eyes fixed on Jesus.

You are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who strengthens you.
